Our ’71 High Top VW Bus Transformation

We purchased our '71 VW Hightop bus on the way to Seattle in 2015.  We picked it up in Portland, OR for $1,500.  It was called "The Gastro Nomad".  The previous owners used it as a food truck and sold organic tacos out of it.  Portland is known for it's food truck scene.

The bus had a blown transmission and no engine.  It was towed to storage, and it was there for almost a year.  John scored a transmission out of a parts bus and rebuilt an engine that sat for 17 years.  Once it was on the road we worked on converting it back to a camper.  We have been going on camping trips in the bus for a few years now.

The most recent update is the paint.  We decided on Sharks teal.  There are still many things that we want to work on, but it drives and travels well.  Plus, it looks killer.  Go Sharks!!
